O Christmas tree, part one

The slow process of Christmas Tree-ing.  It was raining here, and it delayed our plans to get a Christmas tree until late evening.  It was worth it.  The kids were super excited, particularly Liam, who had his coat and shoes on a good half hour before we left.  And the collection “Oh man.” that they let out when we said we were stopping at the grocery store first.

Mind the mess, there's still a bit more to do!

But we got it, and I’m content.  We normally go with fraiser firs, but this year we really liked a longer needle dree.  Not that much longer, and I’m not quite sure what type of tree it is, only that is smells amazing!

I like to let the tree settle first, so we didn’t decorate.  Instead, I waited until all the munchkins were in bed, and I put the lights on.  I love lights.  Lots and lots of pretty lights.  Colored ones too.  More fun and youthful.  Hold the sophistication, I like playful!

Tomorrow, we will do ornaments and garland.  But tonight, I got to bask in the simple glow of a simply lit tree.  Somehow, that always chases any blue Christmas feelings aside.
