While I’m not as excited as usual for the return of Game of Thrones, I AM excited.  It’s 6:37 and I wish it was 9.  I had planned to make up some Lemon cakes today but instead was given a carrot cake.  I know, so random.  How does one end up with a free carrot cake?  I’m not quite sure myself.  My father-in-law brought us over some chicken BBQ from the church, and I guess he saw the carrot cake and thought we’d enjoy that too.  Well, I’m certainly not complaining, and neither are the kids.  Carrot cake is delicious!

Usually I’ve re-read the book before the season begins, but I didn’t get around to it this time.  Sad, but honestly, since it’s the second half of A Storm of Swords, and I read that last year, it’s still pretty fresh in my mind.  I have read it probably 5+ times anyways, so there’s only a little I don’t recall off hand.

So ready!  Anticipation is starting to build as I mentally go through what should happen this season.  There seems to be more hype this year than in previous years, enough that I worry the season will be a let down.  I know, at least from the perspective of book purists, that the series has been a let down with all the changes.  I personally separate the two- the book is one thing, the TV series is another.  I just hope the casual fans don’t lose interest.  It’s pretty amazing, in my opinion, how the series has taken hold.  I’m watching twitter at the moment, as it begins to trend 2 hours before it even airs.

Our game plan remains the same as every other season.  Kids in bed, beer…I think we forgot cheese…and then I guess we’ll eat a piece (or two) of carrot cake.  Two nerds, cuddled on the couch, watching blood and fire and awesome.  My type of evening.
